CROSSTREK Model

CAUTION: For parts which are not reusable, always use new parts.
  1. Install the ball joint into the housing - front axle.
    CAUTION:
    • Do not apply grease to the tapered portion of ball stud.
    • Be careful not to damage the boot of the joint.
    • Before tightening, make sure the bottom surface of the housing - front axle and the stepped section of ball joint are in contact.

    Tightening torque: 

    50 N.m (5.1kgf-m, 36.9ft-lb) 

  2. Install the ball joint into the front arm assembly.
    1. Connect the ball joint to the front arm assembly.

      Tightening torque: 

      39 N.m (3.98kgf-m, 28.8ft-lb) 

    2. Retighten the castle nut further within 60° until the hole in the ball stud is aligned with a slot in the castle nut.
    3. Insert a new cotter pin and bend it around the castle nut.
  3. Install the crossmember support - rear.

    Tightening torque: 

    70 N.m (7.1kgf-m, 51.6ft-lb) 

  4. Install the under cover - front.

    Tightening torque: 

    18 N.m (1.8kgf-m, 13.3ft-lb) 

  5. Lower the vehicle, and install the front wheels.

    Tightening torque: 

    120 N.m (12.2kgf-m, 88.5ft-lb)
