Engine Oil Pressure: Inspection
- Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. Refer to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Remove the oil pressure switch. Refer to LUBRICATION (H4DO)>OIL PRESSURE SWITCH>REMOVAL .
- Install the oil pressure gauge to the installation area for the oil pressure switch of the chain cover.
- Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Refer to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Start the engine, and check the oil pressure.NOTE:
- Standard value is based on an engine oil temperature of 80°C (176°F).
- If the oil pressure is out of the specification, check oil pump, oil filter and lubrication line. Refer to LUBRICATION (H4DO)>SYMPTOMS AND CAUSES>INSPECTION .
- If the oil pressure warning light is ON and oil pressure is within standard, check the oil pressure system. Refer to LUBRICATION (H4DO)>OIL PRESSURE SYSTEM>INSPECTION .
Engine oil pressure:
While idling (no load and select lever in "P" or "N" range)
Standard
47 kPa (0.5 kg/cm2 , 7 psi) or more (at 3,000 r/min)
Standard
230 kPa (2.3 kg/cm2 , 33 psi) or more
- After inspection, install the related parts in the reverse order of removal.
