When Using Piano Wire

CAUTION:
  • Do not tightly pull the piano wire against the windshield glass edge.
  • Apply protective tape, etc, and be careful that the inner and outer components of the vehicle are not damaged.
  • Do not cross piano wires. Otherwise they may be cut.
  1. Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Refer to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  2. Remove the trim panel assembly A pillar. Refer to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Upper Inner Trim>REMOVAL>A PILLAR TRIM .
  3. Remove the cowl panel assembly. Refer to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Cowl Panel>REMOVAL .
  4. Disconnect the wiper deicer connector. (Models with wiper deicer)
  5. Remove the stereo camera assembly. Refer to EyeSight>Stereo Camera>REMOVAL .
  6. Remove the molding windshield from the glass windshield, and attach protective tape on the body side of the circumference of the glass windshield.

  7. Remove the glass windshield.
    1. Using a drill, make a hole in the adhesive part.
    2. Pass the piano wire through the hole, and pull the wire ends alternately to cut off the adhesive part and locating pin.
      CAUTION: Attach a piece of wood to both piano wire ends.

  8. Remove the locating pin. (When reusing the glass)
    1. Attach tape to the locating pin outer surface to identify the installation position.

    2. Using a scraper, etc., remove locating pins (2 places).
      CAUTION:
      • Do not remove the tape because it is used to refer to the installation position.
      • Be careful not to damage the windshield glass during operation.
