Front Reduction Driven Gear: Assembly

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Check the clutch clearance.
    1. Stack the driven plate, drive plate and retaining plate on the surface table.
    2. Set the magnet stand and dial gauge to the surface table, and contact the dial gauge on the retaining plate to adjust the reading to the zero point.
    3. Measure the compression amount.
      • When using ST
      1. Place the ST1 and ST2 on the retaining plate.
CAUTION: If the ST1 and ST2 are deformed, cracked, scratched or chipped, replace with new ones.

        Preparation tool:

        ST1: OIL SEAL INSTALLER (398437700)

        ST2: GAUGE (499575600)

      2. Press the center of ST by applying a force of 105 N using push/pull gauge, and then measure the compression amount "A".
NOTE: Measure at four points at 90° intervals and calculate the average.

      • When not using ST
      1. Scale and record the weight "Q" of a flat board which will be put on the retaining plate.
        NOTE:
        • Use a stiff board which does not bend against load as a flat board to be put on the retaining plate.
        • Use a flat board weighing less than 13.3 kg (29.2 lb).
      2. Put the flat board on retaining plate.

      3. Using the following formula, calculate load "N", a force of pressing with push/pull gauge.

        N = 130 N (13.3 kg, 29.2 lb) - Q

        N Load
130 N (13.3 kg, 29.2 lb) Load applied to clutch plate
        Q Board weight
      4. Press the center of board by applying a force of "N" using push/pull gauge, and then measure the compression amount "A".
NOTE: Measure at four points at 90° intervals and calculate the average.

    4. Install the dish plate, driven plate, drive plate, retaining plate and snap ring.
NOTE: Face the painted surface of dish plate toward the driven plate side.

    5. Measure the clearance "C1" between snap ring and retaining plate using a thickness gauge.
NOTE: Before measuring, press down the whole circumference of retaining plate using your finger.

    6. Using the following calculation, calculate the clutch clearance "C".

      Service limit:

      3.36 mm (0.133 in)

      C = A + C1

      C Clutch clearance (mm (in))
A Measured value (mm (in)) of (3)
C1 Measured value (mm (in)) of (5)
    7. If the value exceeds the limit, perform the following operations.
      1. Measure thickness of the retaining plate.
      2. Replace the drive plate and driven plate with new parts, and then perform measurement from step (1) again.

        Initial standard:

        2.4 - 2.8 mm (0.09 - 0.11 in)

      3. If it exceeds the initial standard value, adjust the thickness of retaining plate to be within the initial standard value.
  2. Using a press, press-fit a new ball bearing.
NOTE: Apply CVTF to the press-fitting area.

  3. Install a new seal ring.
    NOTE:
    • Apply CVTF to the seal rings.
    • Do not stretch the seal ring more than necessary.

  4. Install the front reduction driven shaft.

  5. Install the front reduction driven gear.

  6. Blow compressed air through the hole shown in the figure, and check the piston operation of the front reduction driven gear.
NOTE: Hold the area (a) with a cloth.
