Roll Connector: Installation

CAUTION:
  • Refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" before handling the airbag system components. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
  • If the steering wheel and steering angle sensor (steering roll connector) are removed, be sure to perform the following operations.
  • Align the center position of the steering roll connector.
  • Perform the neutral position setting of the steering angle sensor.
  1. Before attaching a new steering roll connector, apply a thin coat of grease contained in the connector onto the areas shown by the arrows.

  2. Install the steering roll connector.
    NOTE: Before attaching a new steering roll connector, confirm that the position is in neutral, and snap off the neutral pin.
  3. When reusing the steering roll connector, align the neutral position. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>ROLL CONNECTOR>ADJUSTMENT .
  4. Install the column cover assembly.
  5. Install the steering wheel.

    Tightening torque: 

    Steering wheel: 39 N.m (4.0kgf-m, 28.8 ft-lb)

    Clearance: 

    Between column cover assembly and steering wheel: 4 - 6 mm (0.16 - 0.24 in)

  6. Install the driver's airbag module. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>DRIVER'S AIRBAG MODULE>INSTALLATION .
  7. Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  8. Perform the neutral position setting of the steering angle sensor. Ref. to VEHICLE DYNAMICS CONTROL (VDC)>VDC CONTROL MODULE AND HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (VDCCM & H/U)>ADJUSTMENT>VDC SENSOR MIDPOINT SETTING MODE .
