Roll Connector: Installation
CAUTION:
- Refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" before handling the airbag system components. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
- If the steering wheel and steering angle sensor (steering roll connector) are removed, be sure to perform the following operations.
- Align the center position of the steering roll connector.
- Perform the neutral position setting of the steering angle sensor.
- Before attaching a new steering roll connector, apply a thin coat of grease contained in the connector onto the areas shown by the arrows.
- Install the steering roll connector.NOTE: Before attaching a new steering roll connector, confirm that the position is in neutral, and snap off the neutral pin.
- When reusing the steering roll connector, align the neutral position. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>ROLL CONNECTOR>ADJUSTMENT .
- Install the column cover assembly.
- Install the steering wheel.
Tightening torque:
Steering wheel: 39 N.m (4.0kgf-m, 28.8 ft-lb)
Clearance:
Between column cover assembly and steering wheel: 4 - 6 mm (0.16 - 0.24 in)
- Install the driver's airbag module. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>DRIVER'S AIRBAG MODULE>INSTALLATION .
- Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Perform the neutral position setting of the steering angle sensor. Ref. to VEHICLE DYNAMICS CONTROL (VDC)>VDC CONTROL MODULE AND HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (VDCCM & H/U)>ADJUSTMENT>VDC SENSOR MIDPOINT SETTING MODE .
