Extension Case: Removal

  1. Remove the transmission body. Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION>TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY>REMOVAL .
  2. Remove the ST (STAND ASSY) from the transmission body.
  3. Remove the dust cover.
    NOTE: Perform this procedure only when required.

  4. Remove the extension case oil seal. Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION>EXTENSION CASE OIL SEAL>REPLACEMENT .
    NOTE: Perform this procedure only when required.
  5. Remove the bolts securing the extension case.

  6. Using a flat tip screwdriver wrapped with protection tape, expand the clearance and remove the extension case.
    CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the extension case.

  7. Remove the liquid gasket from the extension case and the transmission case.
  8. Remove the snap ring.
    NOTE: Perform this procedure only when required.

  9. Remove the rear output shaft thrust bearing race, output shaft thrust bearing, and front output shaft thrust bearing race.

    (A) Transmission case
    (B) Front output shaft thrust bearing race
    (C) Output shaft thrust bearing
    (D) Rear output shaft thrust bearing race
  10. Measure and record the thickness of the rear output shaft thrust bearing race.
