Inhibitor Switch: Installation
NOTE:
Do not turn the manual valve lever shaft before installing the inhibitor switch.
If the manual valve lever shaft is turned, it may be disconnected in the transmission.
If the manual valve lever shaft is turned, it may be disconnected in the transmission.
- Temporarily install the inhibitor switch using the bolt removed in removal step 9.
- Install a new nut stopper and a nut.
Tightening torque:
6.9 N.m (0.7 kgf-m, 5.1 ft-lb)
(A) Nut (B) Nut stopper - Temporarily install the selector lever, spring washer, and nut.
(A) Nut (B) Spring washer (C) Selector lever - Install the bushing and spacer.
(A) Spacer (B) Bushing (C) Selector lever - Pull the selector lever toward the rear of the vehicle until it stops, then put it back 2 steps (to N range).
- Remove the nut, spring washer, and selector lever.
- Remove the bolts securing the inhibitor switch.
- Align the neutral reference line (A) and the kerf (B).
- Install the bolts which hold the inhibitor switch.CAUTION:
- Always use a new bolt.
- Be careful not to rotate the inhibitor switch.
Tightening torque:
13 N.m (1.3 kgf-m, 9.6 ft-lb)
- Lock with the nut stopper claw.
- Connect the connector.
- Install the selector lever, spring washer, and nut.
Tightening torque:
16 N.m (1.6 kgf-m, 11.8 ft-lb)
(A) Nut (B) Spring washer (C) Selector lever - Connect the select lever rod to the selector lever.
- Apply grease to the shaft.
Preparation items:
Grease: NIPPON GREASE NIGTIGHT LTS No. 2 or equivalent
- Set the wave washer to the shaft and connect the select lever rod.
- Install the snap pin.
- Apply grease to the shaft.
- Install the center exhaust pipe. Ref. to EXHAUST (H4DO)>CENTER EXHAUST PIPE>INSTALLATION .
- Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Check the select lever operation. Ref. to CONTROL SYSTEMS>SELECT LEVER>INSPECTION .
- Check the inhibitor switch operation. Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION>INHIBITOR SWITCH>INSPECTION>CHECK OPERATION .
