Intermediate Shaft: Disassembly
- Remove the rear planetary ring gear flange, front thrust bearing race, thrust needle roller bearing, and rear thrust bearing race.
(A) Rear planetary ring gear flange (B) Front thrust bearing race (C) Thrust needle roller bearing (D) Rear thrust bearing race (E) Intermediate shaft - Measure the outer diameter and runout of the intermediate shaft using a V-block.
- Take measurements at the points shown in the figure.NOTE: Take measurements at all points (A, B, C and D).
- Measure the outer diameter with a micrometer.
- Measuring points "A" and "B"
Specification:
22.962 - 22.975 mm (0.9040 - 0.9045 in)
Service limit:
22.962 mm (0.9040 in)
- Measuring points "C" and "D"
Specification:
27.759 - 27.775 mm (1.0929 - 1.0935 in)
Service limit:
27.759 mm (1.0929 in)
- Measuring points "A" and "B"
- Using a magnet stand and dial gauge (spindle type), measure the runout.
Specification:
0.03 mm (0.001 in) or less
- If the outer diameter is less than the service limit or if runout exceeds the specification, replace with a new intermediate shaft.
- Take measurements at the points shown in the figure.
