Power Rear Gate Control Module: Removal

CAUTION:
  • Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
  • Side impact sensor (under the rear center seat) for the airbag system is located under the front center of the rear seat cushion. Be careful not to apply strong impact to the sensor when working with the rear seat cushion removed.
  • When the power rear gate CM is replaced, the memory height function is initialized. Be sure to measure the power rear gate height before starting the operation and set the memory height function again after the operation.
  1. Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  2. Remove the rear seat cushion assembly. Ref. to SEATS>REAR SEAT>REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the trim panel assembly apron LH and the trim panel assembly D pillar LH. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>REAR QUARTER TRIM>REMOVAL .
  4. Remove the power rear gate CM.
    1. Disconnect the connectors in the following (a) - (c) order.

      NOTE: When the connectors are not disconnected in the sequence, a diagnosis code (DTC) may be detected.
    2. Release the lock and hook, and remove the power rear gate CM.
