Esteem & Swift

Ensure transmission is in Neutral or Park. Set parking brake. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Turn all accessories off. Ensure idle speed is correct. Inspect ignition timing. See ADJUSTMENTS article.

Ensure ignition timing advances with engine speed (RPM). If ignition timing does not advance, check CKP sensor, CKP signal rotor, TP sensor, test switch terminal circuit, VSS and timing belt cover installation.
