Sub-Assembly - Instrument Panel - Remove And Install: Remove
- Open the LH and RH front doors.
- Lower the LH and RH front windows.
- Move the driver and front passenger seats fully rearward.
- Remove the LH and RH middle A-pillar trims. See: TRIM - A-PILLAR - MIDDLE - LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the LH and RH instrument panel end caps. See: End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH - Remove And Replace .
- Adjust the steering column fully rearward and fully down.
- Open the hood.
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See: UNDERHOOD APRON - REAR - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Disconnect LV power. See: LV POWER - DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
- Remove the center console phone dock as an assembly, but do not remove the inductive charger from the phone dock. See: PHONE DOCK - CENTER CONSOLE - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the instrument panel service panel as an assembly, but do not remove the cabin temperature sensor fan from the service panel. See: SERVICE PANEL - INSTRUMENT PANEL - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the touchscreen as an assembly, but do not remove the display mechanism from the touchscreen. See: TOUCHSCREEN - HW3 - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the main instrument panel decor. See: Decor - Instrument Panel - Main - Remove And Replace .
- Release the tabs (x4) that attach the instrument panel closeout panel to the instrument panel, and then remove the closeout panel from the vehicle.
- Remove the LH instrument panel middle trim. See: Trim - Middle - Instrument Panel - LH - Remove And Replace .
- Remove the RH instrument panel middle trim. See: Trim - Middle - Instrument Panel - RH - Remove And Replace .
- Remove the passenger footwell cover. See: Cover - Footwell - Passenger - Remove And Replace .
- Remove the front passenger knee airbag as an assembly from the instrument panel, but do not separate the airbag from the cover. See: KNEE AIRBAG - FRONT PASSENGER - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the glove box. See: Glove Box - Remove And Replace .
- Remove the front passenger instrument panel duct. See: DUCT - INSTRUMENT PANEL - FRONT PASSENGER - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Disconnect the front passenger airbag electrical connectors (x3).NOTE: Pull down the spring loaded locks simultaneously to release the airbag connectors
- Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the instrument panel carrier to the cross car beam.NOTE:
6 N.m (4.4 lbs-ft)
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
- Remove the LH and RH upper A-pillar trims. See: TRIM - A-PILLAR - UPPER - LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Release the clip that attaches the instrument panel decor electrical harness to the LH side of the instrument panel sub-assembly.
- Remove the screws (x3) that attach the LH lower instrument panel to the vehicle.NOTE:
3 N.m (2.2 lbs-ft)
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T20 socket
- Remove the screws (x7) that attach the center lower instrument panel to the vehicle.
3 N.m (2.2 lbs-ft)
NOTE: 1 screw connects the instrument panel ground harness.NOTE: If using part revision 1562948-70-D on a non-HW4 vehicle, add ground strap 1679240-00-A to the aero lens assembly.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T20 socket
- Remove the screws (x3) that attach the RH lower instrument panel to the vehicle.
3 N.m (2.2 lbs-ft)
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T20 socket
- Disconnect the instrument panel trim harness, and then remove the clip that attaches it to the vehicle.
- Disconnect the instrument cluster electrical harness, and then remove the clip that attaches it to the vehicle.
- Position the lower instrument panel assembly away from the instrument panel sub-assembly.NOTE: Move the top edge as far rearward as possible without excessive stress on the assembly.
- With an assistant, remove the instrument panel sub-assembly from the vehicle.NOTE: Slide the instrument panel sub-assembly rearwards, and then lift the assembly up from the instrument panel carrier.NOTE: Make sure that the air wave vents and front passenger airbag are clear of the lower instrument panel assembly.NOTE: Remove the instrument panel sub-assembly out through the RH front door.
