Module - Body Controller - Front - Remove And Replace: Install

- Position the front body controller module and ground cable on the vehicle, and then install the locating tabs (x2) that attach the module to the vehicle.
- Install the bolts (x3) that attach the front body controller module to the vehicle.
10 N.m (7.4 ft-lbs)
NOTE: Start with the bolt on the side of the module.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 4 in extension
- 10 mm deep socket
- Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- Install the bolt that attaches the front body controller module ground cable to the vehicle.
10 N.m (7.4 ft-lbs)
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 4 in extension
- 10 mm deep socket
- Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- Connect the front body controller module lower locking connectors (x2).NOTE: Engage the red locking tab.
- Connect the front body controller module RH middle locking connectors (x2).NOTE: Verify the yellow locking tabs are fully opened. Seat connectors and mechanism will begin to engage.
- Connect the front body controller module LH middle locking connector.NOTE: Verify the lever is fully opened. Seat connector and lever will being to engage.
- Connect the front body controller module upper locking connectors (x2).NOTE: Verify the levers are fully opened. Seat connectors and levers will begin to engage.
- Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect And Connect) .
- Connect toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect) .
- In Toolbox 3, click the Actions/Autodiag tab, and type "Service_Redeploy".
- Click SERVICE CAN REDEPLOY
, and then click Run
and allow the routine to complete.NOTE: Select the "X" at the top right of window to close once complete.NOTE: The routine will state pass, but the update will continue to run in the background.NOTE: The UI will show the update progress.
- Verify the vehicle is configured with the latest firmware. See Firmware Update .
- Reestablish toolbox 3 connection. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect) .
- In Toolbox 3, click the Actions/Autodiag tab, and type "Pump".
- Click TEST-SELF_VCFRONT_X_COOLANT_PUMPS_IDENTIFICATION
, and then click Run
and allow the routine to complete.NOTE: Select the "X" at the top right of window to close once complete.NOTE: Ensure "VCFRONT_a490_coolantPumpsNotIdentified" has cleared.
- In Toolbox 3, click the Actions/Autodiag tab, and type "Thermal Performance".
- Click TEST-SELF_VCFRONT_X_HEAT-PUMP-THERMAL-PERFORMANCE
, and then click Run
and allow the routine to complete.NOTE: Select the "X" at the top right of window to close once complete.NOTE: If the thermal test fails, see https://toolbox.teslamotors.com/articles/206000.
- Disconnect toolbox 3 and remove the laptop from the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect) .
- Adjust the headlights as required. See HEADLIGHTS - ADJUST - NA (TOOL METHOD) .
- Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the underhood storage unit access panel. See Underhood Storage Unit Access Panel (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace) .
- Raise the LH front window.
- Close the LH front door.
