Compressor Clutch: Testing and Inspection

Fig. 3 Compressor clutch stator coil resistance test connections.:

1. Check for wear and/or oil soaked condition on pressure plate and rotor.
2. Check clutch bearings for leaking seals or unusual noise.
3. Measure resistance of stator coil using ohmmeter as in Fig. 3. Resistance should be 2.9 ohms at 68 deg. F. If not within specifications, replace coil.
