Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Specifications

Turn ignition off and disconnect electrical connector at TPS. Insert a thickness gauge between throttle stop screw and throttle lever. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance values. See Fig 1. If values are not as specified in chart, adjust or replace TPS.

.028" (.70 mm) IDL - E1 Infinity

  1. Connect tachometer to engine. Gain access to ECU wire connectors. Start and warm engine to normal operating temperature. Using a digital voltmeter, measure voltage between terminals No. 10 or No. 20 and +B with engine at idle speed. Voltage reading should be 0.1-0.2 volts.
  2. Increase engine speed to 3000 RPM. Rapidly decrease engine speed. Voltmeter should temporarily register 0 volts. Fuel cutoff RPM should be as specified in chart.
