Control Switch Circuit Test

  1. Turn ignition off and "ACCEL/RESUME" switch on. To check control switch operation, check for continuity between terminal 23 (Pickup, 4Runner, Cressida, Celica and Corolla FWD), 28 ( Supra), or 2 (Corolla RWD and Van) and ground. If no continuity, inspect control switch. If continuity exists, turn "ACCEL/RESUME" switch off and repeat test. If there is continuity, inspect control switch. If none, check computer.
  2. To check computer, turn "ACCEL/RESUME" switch on and check circuit. Check for continuity between terminal 13 (Celica, Cressida, Supra and Corolla) or 16 (all others) and ground. If none, check for open in harness between applicable terminals above and terminal 23 (Celica, Cressida, Corolla FWD, 4Runner and Pickup), 28 (Supra) or 2 (Van and RWD Corolla) of control switch.
  3. If continuity existed, inspect actuator operation. See ACTUATOR CIRCUIT in this article. If actuator is not normal, replace. If normal, replace computer.
