Operation Testing
- For Van, start engine and inspect actuator operation by connecting the positive lead from the battery to terminal 5 and the negative lead to body ground. On acceleration, there should be continuity between terminal 1 and battery positive and between terminal 6 and battery negative. Deceleration should produce opposite results. Motor should stop at the fully open and fully closed positions.
- For others, start engine and check that the actuator diaphragm makes a smooth reciprocating motion when vacuum is applied with terminals 2 and 3 having power and terminal 1 being grounded. When terminals 2 or 3 are disconnected, cable should return to original position.

- Confirm that the cable does not return easily when pulled with 4-7 lb. (2-3 kg) of force. Inspect control cable freeplay. It must be less than .039" (10 mm) for all except Van, which should be less than .08" (2 mm).
- Check that the vacuum hose is connected. If the operation is not as specified, replace the actuator.
