Steering System - Power: Description
System consists of a belt-driven pump, variable-assist steering gear and connecting hydraulic lines. Some models are equipped with Progressive Power Steering (PPS). PPS is an electronically-controlled variable-assist steering system.
The steering gear for electronically-controlled or non-electronically-controlled controlled systems consists of 2 mechanisms. One converts steering wheel torque to cross shaft torque by means of a worm and power piston nut. The other detects hydraulic pressure and controls it in proportion to the steering effort.
