Corolla RWD & Tercel

  1. Warm up engine and check idle speed. Check throttle positioner setting speed. To adjust, disconnect hose from TVSV "M" port and plug "M" port. This disconnects choke opener and EGR system.
  2. Disconnect vacuum hose from throttle positioner and plug hose end. Throttle positioner setting speed is 1400 RPM. Adjust with throttle positioner screw if not at specified speed.
  3. Check operation of VTV. Reconnect vacuum hose to TP diaphragm. Check that engine returns to idle speed within 2-6 seconds. Reconnect TVSV "M" port vacuum hose. If no problem was found, system is okay.
