Auxiliary Acceleration Pump (AAP)

  1. On Corolla and Tercel models, check that engine coolant temperature is below 122°F (50°C). On Pickup models, check that coolant temperature is below 131°F (55°C). Remove air cleaner and start engine.
  2. Pinch AAP vacuum hose and stop engine. Release vacuum hose and ensure that gasoline spurts out of accelerator nozzle.
  3. Warm engine to normal operating temperature. Once again pinch vacuum hose and stop engine. Check that gasoline does not spurt out from accelerator nozzle. If no problem found, system is okay.
