Installation (Pickup & 4Runner 22R & 22R-E)

  1. Install new "O" ring into housing. Coat "O" ring with oil. Turn crankshaft until timing mark aligns TDC (22R) and 5° BTDC (22R-E). Check that rocker arms on No. 1 cylinder are loose. If rocker arms are not loose, turn crankshaft one full turn.
  2. Temporarily install rotor. Begin inserting distributor with rotor pointing upward and distributor mounting hole aligned with mounting bolt hole. When fully installed, rotor should align with vacuum advance. See Fig 1. Align rotor tooth with signal generator (pickup coil) projection. See Figure. Install hold-down bolt. Install distributor cap and spark plug wires. Connect distributor connector. Set timing.
