Throttle Positioner (TP): Tercel
- Warm engine to operating temperature. Check idle speed and adjust as required. Disconnect vacuum hose from TP diaphragm "A" and plug hose end. Disconnect vacuum hose from EGR valve and plug hose end. See Fig 1.
- Set first step TP setting speed. TP first step setting speed should be 1100 RPM. Reconnect vacuum hose to TP diaphragm "A". Disconnect vacuum hose from TP diaphragm "B" and plug hose end.
- Check that TP is set at second step. TP second step speed should be 1800-2200 RPM. Reconnect vacuum hose to TP diaphragm "B". Check that engine returns to idle speed within 2-6 seconds. Reconnect vacuum hose to EGR valve.
- If TP does not function as described, test individual components. Test Vacuum Switching Valve (VSV), Vacuum Transmitting Valve (VTV), TP diaphram and restrictor.
