Driver Side Window Control Switch

  1. Inspect the switch continuity between terminals. See Fig 1. If continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.

  2. To test the illumination of the switch, connect a lead from the positive terminal of the battery to switch terminal No. 6 and ground to terminal No. 3. See Fig 2. Ensure window control switches illuminate. Ensure that when window lock out button is depressed, illumination on passenger door window control switch goes off. If illumination is not as specified, replace switch.

  3. To test "automatic down" feature, disconnect connector from switch. Connect a lead from the positive terminal of the battery to terminal No. 5 of the wire harness side of connector and an ammeter between terminal No. 1 and ground. As window operates, current should be approximately 7 amps. If current is approximately 14.5 amps when window is fully lowered, replace switch.
