System Test (2.4L)

  1. Check hoses and tubes for cracks, kinks, damage, or loose connections. Check Air Suction (AS) system cold operating condition. See Figure.
  2. Ensure coolant temperature is less than 86°F (30°C). Start engine and let idle. Disconnect AS vacuum hose from air cleaner. See Fig 1. Check for air bubbling noise from AS vacuum hose.
  3. When engine temperature is greater than 104°F (40°C), air bubbling noise from AS vacuum hose should not be heard. Race engine to 2000 RPM and quickly close throttle. Air bubbling noise from AS vacuum hose should be heard and then momentarily stop.
