SERVICE INFORMATION

A new "high security" key and lock system has been introduced on the 1992 Camry Model line. This new lock system is designed to inhibit vehicle entry via lock picking.

Because of this new key and lock design, cutting replacement keys will require an update kit for your Curtis Industries key cutter. The update kit, No. 20557, contains the following necessary cutting equipment:

CURTIS UPDATE KIT

Number Part
20549 Carriage
20550 Cam set
20535 Decoder
20558 Code set
40205 Key clamp

The 47 degree code cutter and updated key clamp must be used to cut keys for the new 1992 Camry lock system. Use of any other model code cutter or clamp can cause lock damage, resulting in possible damage to the starting system. The updated key clamp will also accommodate the other Toyota models. Subsequently, to reduce confusion, it is advisable that you discard the old key clamp.
