Ignition System: Distributor: Removal
- Disconnect battery negative cable. Remove distributor waterproof cover (if equipped). Record spark plug wire positions and disconnect wires from distributor cap and from ignition coil.
- Disconnect distributor electrical connector. Set cylinder No. 1 to TDC, using following method. Remove oil filler cap and turn crankshaft clockwise until camshaft lobe nose can be seen pointing upward while looking into oil filler hole.
- Turn crankshaft counterclockwise approximately 120 degrees. Turn crankshaft back clockwise 10-40 degrees until TDC timing mark on crankshaft pulley aligns with timing cover mark. Remove distributor hold-down bolt. Remove distributor. Remove "O" ring from distributor shaft and discard.
