Fuel Pressure Regulators: Installation

  1. Apply light coat of gasoline to NEW "O" ring and install onto pressure regulator. Push firmly to install pressure regulator into fuel rail. Turn pressure regulator counterclockwise until fuel return pipe points 90 degrees from fuel pipe, and vacuum pipe points opposite direction from fuel rail.
  2. Ensure regulator rotates/twists smoothly to verify "O" ring seal is positioned properly. If pressure regulator does not rotate smoothly, remove it and replace "O" ring. Reinstall pressure regulator.
  3. Tighten lock nut to 22 ft. lbs. (29 N.m). To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten all nuts and bolts to specification. See appropriate TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS table at end of article. Connect fuel hose and vacuum hose to pressure regulator. Turn ignition on and check for fuel leaks.
