Fuel Injectors & Fuel Rails: Installation

  1. Install grommet and NEW "O" ring to each injector. Apply a light coat of gasoline and install injectors to fuel rail. Verify injectors rotate smoothly. If injectors do not rotate smoothly, verify "O" rings are properly installed. Replace as required.
  2. Install insulators into injector holes on intake manifold. Position injector tips, with attached fuel rail, to insulators in manifold. Install and tighten fuel rail bolts to 14 ft. lbs. (19 N.m).
  3. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten all nuts and bolts. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS. Check for fuel leakage. See CHECKING FOR FUEL LEAKS.


  1. Apply light coat of gasoline to "O" rings and install NEW "O" rings and grommets onto injectors. Install 6 injectors into fuel rails. Install NEW fuel rail mounting spacers and NEW injector insulators to intake manifold.
  2. Install injectors, with fuel rail attached, into insulators on intake manifold. Verify injectors rotate smoothly. If injectors do not rotate smoothly, check "O" rings for proper installation. Replace "O" rings as needed. Position injector electrical connectors upward.
  3. Install 4 fuel rail mounting nuts and tighten to 115 INCH lbs. (13 N.m). To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten all nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS. Check for fuel leakage. See CHECKING FOR FUEL LEAKS.
