Rear Speed Sensors

  1. Remove rear seat cushion. Unplug wheel speed sensor connector. Measure resistance between speed sensor terminals. On All-Trac models, resistance should be 900-1300 ohms.
  2. Measure insulation resistance between each sensor terminal and sensor body. Continuity should not exist. If resistance and continuity are not as specified, replace speed sensor.
  3. Inspect sensor rotor teeth for scratches, cracks, warping or missing teeth. Install axle shaft. Connect oscilloscope to speed sensor connector. Drive vehicle at 12.4 MPH and observe speed sensor output wave. See Figure. Verify "C" is at least 0.5 volt. Verify "B" is at least 70 percent of "A". If pattern is not as specified, replace sensor rotor.
