Deceleration Sensor
- While checking deceleration sensor operating diagnosis system, the ABS system does not work. Brake system works as a normal brake system. Deceleration sensor detects speed of vehicle and sends signal accordingly to ABS ECU.
- Check deceleration sensor installation, wire harness and connector. Raise vehicle independently. Measure height and measure at center of lower body of vehicle. See Fig 1. Verify warning light does not turn on. If warning light turns on, inspect deceleration sensor installation.
- If sensor installation is okay, replace deceleration sensor. Lower vehicle. Drive vehicle straight ahead at 12.4 MPH (20 km/h) or more and apply light pressure to brake pedal. Ensure there is no change in warning light pattern. At same speed as previously described, apply firm pressure to brake pedal. Ensure warning light turns on while braking.
- At same speed as previously described, apply hard pressure to brake pedal. Ensure warning light pattern changes while braking. If operation is not as specified, check deceleration sensor installation. If okay, replace deceleration sensor.
