Removal & Installation (2.2L Non-Turbo)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain engine coolant. Remove air cleaner hose. Disconnect throttle cable and accelerator cable from throttle body linkage.
  2. Disconnect Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and Idle Air Control (IAC) valve connectors. Label and disconnect all vacuum hoses from throttle body, including PCV hose. Remove 4 bolts, disconnect throttle body from intake manifold, and remove throttle body gasket. Note position of old gasket for reassembly reference.
  3. Disconnect 2 coolant by-pass hoses from throttle body. Disconnect air hose from A/C idle-up valve.
  4. To install, reverse removal procedure. Install 2 shorter throttle body bolts in 2 top mounting holes. Tighten 4 throttle body bolts to 14 ft. lbs. (19 N.m). Fill with coolant. Connect negative battery cable. Check for fuel leakage. See CHECKING FOR FUEL LEAKS.
