Installation (3.0L)

  1. Apply light coat of gasoline to NEW "O" ring and install onto pressure regulator. Push firmly to install pressure regulator into fuel rail. Turn pressure regulator counterclockwise until fuel return pipe points 90 degrees from fuel pipe, toward distributor.
  2. Verify regulator rotates smoothly. If pressure regulator does not rotate smoothly, verify "O" ring is correctly installed. Replace "O" ring if necessary. Reinstall pressure regulator.
  3. Tighten lock nut to 22 ft. lbs. (30 N.m). To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten all nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS TABLE at the end of this article. Connect fuel hose and vacuum hose to pressure regulator. Check for fuel leakage. See CHECKING FOR FUEL LEAKS.
