Removal & Installation (2.4L)
- Disconnect vacuum hose from pressure regulator. Release fuel pressure at fuel filter. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE. Place a rag under pressure regulator, and remove fuel return hose from pressure regulator. Remove EGR valve pipe to air intake chamber. Loosen lock nut on pressure regulator, and pull unit from fuel rail.
- To install, apply light coat of gasoline to NEW "O" ring and install onto pressure regulator. Install pressure regulator to fuel rail with fuel return pipe pointing downward. Verify regulator rotates smoothly . If pressure regulator does not rotate smoothly, verify "O" ring is correctly installed. Replace "O" ring if necessary. Reinstall pressure regulator.
- Tighten fuel pressure regulator lock nut to 22 ft. lbs. (30 N.m). Install EGR valve pipe and NEW gasket to air intake chamber. Connect fuel hose and vacuum hose. Check for fuel leakage. See CHECKING FOR FUEL LEAKS.
