Removal (3.0L)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Release fuel pressure at fuel filter. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE. Drain coolant. Disconnect cruise control actuator cable and bracket, if quipped. Disconnect throttle cable (A/T).
  2. Disconnect air cleaner and vacuum hoses from pressure regulator. Place a rag under fuel pressure regulator, and remove fuel return hose from pressure regulator. Disconnect TPS connector from throttle body. Disconnect canister vacuum hose from throttle body. Disconnect PCV hose from union. Disconnect coolant by-pass hose from union on intake manifold. Disconnect smaller coolant by-pass hose from coolant by-pass pipe near manifold. Disconnect cold start injector connector and its fuel pipe.
  3. Disconnect vacuum hose from gas filter. On California and Cab and Chassis models, disconnect EGR temperature sensor connector. On all models, label and disconnect all emission and EGR vacuum hoses from throttle body and EGR vacuum modulator. Remove air intake chamber support and throttle cable bracket. On Cab and Chassis models, remove 2 water by-pass hose from EGR valve. On all models, remove EGR valve and attached pipes. Disconnect large air hose from PAIR valve.
  4. Disconnect 4 vacuum hose from air pipes, and remove accelerator cable bracket. Remove 6 bolts and 2 nuts to remove air intake chamber/throttle body assembly from intake manifold. Fully loosen lock nut on pressure regulator, and pull unit from fuel rail.
