Ignition System: Distributor: Installation
- Coat NEW "O" ring with oil and install onto distributor housing. Ensure cylinder No. 1 is at TDC. If it is not, turn crankshaft until cylinder No. 1 is on compression stroke and timing mark aligns with TDC mark on timing case cover.
- Position slot of exhaust camshaft vertically. See Fig 2. Align cut-out marks of distributor drive coupling with line on distributor housing. See Figure.
- Install distributor, aligning distributor flange mounting hole with bolt hole on cylinder head. Install distributor hold-down bolt. Install spark plug wires to distributor cap. Connect distributor electrical connector.
- Connect negative battery cable. Set ignition timing. Tighten distributor hold-down bolts to 14 ft. lbs. (19 N.m).
