Installation (3.0L)

  1. If necessary, remove cylinder head cover to install distributor assembly. Turn crankshaft pulley clockwise, and align groove with timing mark "O" of oil pump cover.
  2. Verify timing marks with 1 and 2 dots are in straight line on cylinder head surface. If not, turn crankshaft one revolution and align mark. Coat NEW "O" ring with oil and install onto distributor housing. Align protrusion on top of drive gear teeth with groove on distributor housing. See Figure.
  3. Install distributor and distributor cap. Reverse removal procedure to complete installation. Set ignition timing, and tighten distributor bolts to 14 ft. lbs. (19 N.m).
