Fuel Injectors & Fuel Rails: Removal

Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain engine coolant. Remove air cleaner cap, Mass Air Flow (MAF) meter and resonator assembly. See Figure. Disconnect throttle cable from throttle body. Disconnect intake air connector hoses.
On vehicles with A/C, disconnect A/C idle-up valve connector. Disconnect air hose from air intake chamber, and remove bolt and A/C idle-up valve. On vehicles without A/C, remove No. 1 and No. 2 PCV hoses. Disconnect spark plug wires from clips attached to cylinder head cover.
Disconnect distributor connector. Remove throttle body. Disconnect engine wiring. Disconnect injector electrical connectors. Remove EGR valve and vacuum modulator. Remove intake chamber stay. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE.
Remove air intake chamber. Remove fuel inlet tube. Disconnect vacuum hose from fuel pressure regulator. Remove delivery pipe and injectors. Remove "O" ring and grommet from each injector.
