Fuel System Pressure Release

WARNING: ALWAYS release fuel pressure before disconnecting any fuel injection-related component. DO NOT allow fuel to contact engine or electrical components.
  1. Disconnect electrical connector from top of fuel pump. Fuel pump is located in the fuel tank with the electrical connector located on top of the fuel tank.
  2. Start engine and allow engine to idle until engine stalls. Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable.
  3. Place suitable container under fuel line connection. Cover fuel line connection with shop towel. Slowly loosen fuel line connection, allowing fuel pressure to be released. Once fuel pressure is released, fuel system components may be serviced.
