Diagnosis & Repair (OBD-II Scan Tester ONLY)
- Disconnect EGR gas temperature sensor. Sensor is located in intake plenum. See Figure. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between sensor terminals. If resistance is approximately 2.5 k/ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is NOT approximately 2.5 k/ohms or less, replace sensor.
- Inspect circuits between EGR gas temperature sensor and ECM for short. See wiring diagram in the WIRING DIAGRAMS - 2.7L article. Repair as needed. If circuits are okay, go to next step.
- Check operation of EGR Vacuum Switching Valve (VSV). VSV located under intake plenum cover. See appropriate procedures in the SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS - 2.7L article. Replace valve as needed. If valve is okay, inspect EGR valve. Replace as needed.
- Inspect circuits for short between EGR VSV and ECM. See wiring diagram in the WIRING DIAGRAMS - 2.7L article. Repair as needed. If circuits are okay, replace ECM and retest.
