Diagnosis & Repair

  1. Disconnect CKP sensor harness connector. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between sensor connector terminals No. 1 and 2. See Fig 1. Resistance should be 985-1600 ohms (cold sensor) or 1265-1 890 ohms (hot sensor).
  2. Replace sensor as needed. If sensor is okay, inspect circuits between ECM and CKP sensor for open or short. See wiring diagram in the WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Repair as needed. If both circuits are okay, remove sensor and inspect. Also inspect signal plate. Replace as needed. If both components are okay, replace ECM and retest.
