Bulletin No.: EG001-96
Date: January 26, 1996
SERVICE INFORMATION
To standardize parts availability, 1996 model Land Cruiser and Tercel ECMs may also be used on respective 1995 model Land Cruiser and Tercels.
Differences between previous and new supply ECMs:
- 1995 MODEL ECM: For Fuel Trim Malfunction, MIL turns "ON" with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) PO170 whenever the air fuel ratio is excessively lean or rich.
- 1996 MODEL ECM: For Fuel Trim Malfunction, MIL turns "ON" with DTC PO171 for excessively lean air fuel ratio. DTC PO172 applies to excessively rich air fuel ratio.
NOTE:
Use 1996 Land Cruiser Repair Manual (RM451U) or Tercel Repair Manual (RM440U) as appropriate, to diagnose 1995 model Land Cruisers or Tercels which have a new ECM installed.
