Fuel Rails & Fuel Injectors: Installation

To install, reverse removal procedure using NEW grommets, "O" rings and gaskets. Coat "O" ring with gasoline before installing "O" ring on fuel injector. Use twisting motion when installing fuel injector on fuel rail. Ensure spacers are installed on intake manifold.
When installing fuel rails, install both fuel rails with fuel injectors, No. 2 fuel pipe with NEW gaskets, and all fuel rail-to-intake manifold bolts and No. 1 fuel pipe-to-intake manifold bolt loosely installed.
Ensure fuel injectors rotate smoothly. If fuel injectors do not rotate smoothly, check for improper "O" ring installation. Ensure electrical connector on each fuel injector is facing outward.
Tighten fuel rail-to-intake manifold bolts, No. 1 fuel pipe-to-intake manifold bolt and No. 2 fuel pipe union bolts in this sequence to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS table.
To install remaining components, reverse removal procedure. Tighten bolts/nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS table. Operate fuel pump and check for fuel leaks. See FUEL PUMP OPERATION in BASIC TESTING article.
