Diagnosis & Repair

  1. Disconnect distributor connector. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between distributor connector terminals. Resistance should be 135-220 ohms (cold sensor) or 175-255 ohms (hot sensor).
  2. If resistance is not as specified, replace distributor. If resistance is as specified, check for an open or short circuit in wiring harness between ECM and CMP sensor. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Repair as necessary. If wiring harness is okay, replace ECM and retest.
