Disassembly & Reassembly

  1. Remove wiring harness from fuel pump to electrical connector on top of fuel pump mounting bracket (if equipped). See Figure. Pull bottom of fuel pump from fuel pump mounting bracket.
  2. Disconnect fuel hose at top of fuel pump. Remove fuel pump with rubber cushion from fuel pump mounting bracket. Remove rubber cushion from bottom of fuel pump. Using small screwdriver, remove retaining clip that holds fuel filter on bottom of fuel pump. Remove fuel filter from fuel pump.
  3. For removal of fuel gauge sending unit from fuel pump mounting bracket, disconnect electrical connector at fuel gauge sending unit. Remove screws and fuel gauge sending unit from fuel pump mounting bracket. Remove screws and electrical connector assembly with gasket from fuel pump mounting bracket (if necessary).
  4. To reassemble, reverse disassembly procedure using NEW gasket on electrical connector and NEW retaining clip on fuel filter.
