Diagnosis & Repair

  1. Turn ignition off. Access ECM behind bottom center of instrument panel, in front of console. Using DVOM, backprobe ECM harness connector and measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 1 (Red/White wire) at ECM harness connector E6. See Figure. Voltage should be 9-14 volts. If voltage is as specified, replace ECM. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step.
  2. Remove and inspect EFI fuse (20-amp). EFI fuse is located in engine compartment fuse box. If fuse is blown, repair short to ground in power distribution circuit as necessary. If fuse is okay, repair open in Red/White wire between EFI fuse and ECM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
