Test No. 49: All Power Windows Will Not Operate, Driver's Door Power Window Will Not Operate, Or Auto Up Or Down Function For Power Window Does Not Operate
- Check ECU-B fuse (7.5-amp), GAUGE NO. 1 fuse (10-amp) and FL P/W fuse (25-amp). These fuses are located in fuse/relay box at driver's side of instrument panel. See Figure. If fuses are okay, go to next step. If any fuse is defective, repair short in wiring for appropriate fuse. See WIRING DIAGRAMS in POWER WINDOWS - CARS article. For additional wiring for power supply circuit, see POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
- Note location of driver's door Electronic Control Unit (ECU) on driver's door. Driver's door ECU is incorporated into the power window switch assembly. See Figure.
- Turn ignition on. Using voltmeter, check voltage between ground circuit at terminal No. 13 (White/Black wire) and terminal No. 21 (Red/Black wire) at driver's door ECU. See Figure. Voltage should be 10-14 volts. Turn ignition off. Disconnect electrical connector at driver's door ECU. Using voltmeter, check voltage between ground circuit at terminal No. 13 (White/Black wire) and terminals No. 23 (White/Green wire) and No. 25 (Blue/Orange wire) at driver's door ECU. See Figure. Voltage should be 10-14 volts. If any voltage reading is not within specification, go to next step. If all voltage readings are within specification, go to step 6.
- Check for open in wiring harness and electrical connectors between terminal No. 13 (White/Black wire) at driver's door ECU and ground connection. See WIRING DIAGRAMS in POWER WINDOWS - CARS article. If wiring harness and electrical connector are okay, go to next step. If wiring harness or electrical connector are defective, repair as necessary and recheck power window operation.
- Check wiring harness and electrical connectors between battery and terminals No. 21 (Red/Black wire), No. 23 (White/Green wire) and No. 25 (Blue/Orange wire) at electrical for driver's door ECU. Repair wiring harness or electrical connector as necessary and recheck power window operation.
- Replace driver's door ECU with a known-good ECU and recheck power window operation. If power windows operate properly, original driver's door ECU was defective. If power windows still do not operate properly, check wiring harness and electrical connectors for driver's door ECU and power windows for an intermittent problem. See WIRING DIAGRAMS in POWER WINDOWS - CARS article. Repair wiring harness or electrical connector as necessary.
