Test No. 9: Headlight Does Not Operate With Engine Running & Headlight Switch In Off Position
NOTE:
Test applies only to models with daytime running lights.
- Check DRL fuse (7.5-amp), DOME fuse (7.5-amp) and GAUGE No. 1 (10-amp) fuse. DRL fuse is located in fuse/relay box as driver's side front corner of engine compartment. See Figure. DOME and GAUGE No. 1 fuses are located in fuse/relay box at driver's side of instrument panel. See Figure. If fuses are okay, go to next step. If any fuse is defective, repair short in wiring for appropriate fuse. See WIRING DIAGRAMS in DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS article. For additional wiring for power supply circuit, see POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
- Check Yellow/Green wire and electrical connectors between parking brake switch and terminal No. 15 at electrical connector B4 (25-pin) at Body Electronic Control Unit (ECU). See WIRING DIAGRAMS in DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS article. Body ECU is located at driver's side of instrument panel on the fuse/relay box. See Figure. Electrical connector B4 (25-pin) is located at side of body ECU. If wiring harness and electrical connectors are okay, go to next step. If wiring harness or electrical connector are defective, repair as necessary and recheck headlight operation.
- Check charging system to verify proper operation of generator. See appropriate GENERATORS & REGULATORS article in STARTING & CHARGING SYSTEMS. If charging system is not operating properly, repair charging system as necessary and recheck headlight operation. If charging system is operating properly, check wiring harness and electrical connectors for daytime running lights. See WIRING DIAGRAMS in DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS article. Repair wiring harness or electrical connector as necessary.
