Mirror Does Not Work
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2000 Toyota Avalon. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Checking Fuses
If left mirror is inoperative, check for blown FL P/W (25-amp) fuse in instrument panel junction block. See Figure. If right mirror is inoperative, check for blown FR P/W (20-amp) fuse in instrument panel junction block. If either fuse is blown, replace fuse and repair short in wiring. See WIRING DIAGRAMS in POWER MIRRORS article. If both fuses are okay, go to next step. - Checking Mirror Switch & Circuit
Remove power mirror switch. Test switch operation. See POWER MIRROR SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS in POWER MIRRORS article. If power mirror switch does not operate as specified, replace switch. If power mirror switch operation is as specified, go to next step. - If left mirror is inoperative, disconnect driver's door ECU harness connector and left mirror harness connector. If right mirror is inoperative, disconnect passenger's door ECU and right mirror harness connector. Using DVOM, check continuity in all circuits between affected door ECU and mirror. See WIRING DIAGRAMS in POWER MIRRORS article. If any circuits do not have continuity, repair as necessary and retest. If all circuits have continuity, go to next step.
- Testing Body Control ECU
Check all voltage inputs to body control ECU. See BODY CONTROL ECU under PIN VOLTAGE TESTS. If any voltage inputs are not as specified, repair affected circuit and retest system. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If all voltage inputs are as specified, substitute known-good body control ECU and retest system. If system now works properly, replace body control ECU. If system still does not work, recheck all related system wiring and connections.
