Front Passenger's Window Does Not Work

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2000 Toyota Avalon. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Testing Passenger's Door ECU

Check all voltage inputs to passenger's door ECU. See PASSENGER'S DOOR ECU  under PIN VOLTAGE TESTS. If any voltage inputs are not as specified, repair affected circuit and retest system. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If all voltage inputs are as specified, substitute known-good passenger's door ECU and retest system. If system now works properly, replace passenger's door ECU. If system still does not work, reinstall original passenger's door ECU and go to next step.
  2. Testing Passenger's Power Window Motor & Circuit

Remove passenger's door panel. Disconnect power window motor 2-pin connector. Apply battery voltage to power window motor 2-pin connector Red wire, and apply ground to power window motor 2-pin connector Green wire. Window should move. Reverse leads and retest. Window should move in opposite direction. If window operation is not as specified, replace power window motor. If window operation is as specified, go to next step.
  3. Using DVOM, check continuity in the following circuits:
    • On Red wire between power window motor 2-pin harness connector and passenger's door ECU harness connector terminal No. 9. See Figure.
    • On Green wire between power window motor 2-pin harness connector and passenger's door ECU harness connector terminal No. 1.
If either circuit does not have continuity, repair as necessary and retest system. If continuity exists on both circuits, go to next step.
  4. Testing Body Control ECU

Check all voltage inputs to body control ECU. See BODY CONTROL ECU  under PIN VOLTAGE TESTS. If any voltage inputs are not as specified, repair affected circuit and retest system. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If all voltage inputs are as specified, substitute known-good body control ECU and retest system. If system now works properly, replace body control ECU. If system still does not work, recheck all related system wiring and connections.
