Test No. 5: Auto Down Function For Driver's Door Power Window Does Not Operate

NOTE: Auto down function controls automatic operation of power window. When power window switch is pushed completely downward and then released, the power window will fully open. Auto down function may also be referred to as the one touch power window system.
  1. Check power window control switch for driver's door power window. See POWER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If power window control switch is okay, go to next step. If power window control switch is defective, replace power window control switch and recheck power window operation.
  2. Check wiring harness and electrical connectors between power window control switch for driver's door power window and body Electronic Control Unit (ECU). See WIRING DIAGRAMS in POWER WINDOWS - CARS article. Body ECU is located behind driver's side of instrument panel and contains 18-pin and 25-pin electrical connectors. See Figure. For body ECU electrical terminal identification, see Figure. Repair wiring harness or electrical connector as necessary and recheck power window operation.
