Test No. 17: Anti-Theft System Indicator Light Does Not Blink When Anti-Theft System Is Set
NOTE:
Anti-theft system indicator light is displayed as a vehicle icon near cassette tape opening at stereo assembly.
- Verify that anti-theft system indicator light in center cluster module operates. If anti-theft system indicator light operates, go to next step. If anti-theft system indicator light does not operate, replace components as necessary.
- Check wiring harness and electrical connectors for Light Green/Black wire between body Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and anti-theft system indicator light, and Brown wire between anti-theft system indicator light and ground connection. See WIRING DIAGRAMS in WARNING SYSTEMS article. Anti-theft system indicator light is located on center cluster switch according to wiring diagram. Center cluster switch may also be referred to as center cluster module control. Body ECU is located at driver's side of instrument panel on the fuse/relay box and contains an 18-pin and 20-pin electrical connector. See Figure. If wiring harness and electrical connector are okay, go to next step. If wiring harness or electrical are defective, repair as necessary and recheck anti-theft system indicator light operation.
- Check body ECU for proper voltage and input signals. See BODY ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT under PIN VOLTAGE TESTS. If proper voltage and input signals exist, go to next step. If proper voltage and input signals do not exist, repair as necessary and recheck anti-theft system indicator light operation.
- Replace body ECU with a known-good body ECU and recheck anti-theft system indicator light operation. If anti-theft system indicator light operates properly, original body ECU was defective. If anti-theft system indicator light still does not operate properly, check wiring harness and electrical connectors for body ECU and anti-theft system indicator light for an intermittent problem. See WIRING DIAGRAMS in WARNING SYSTEMS article. Repair wiring harness or electrical connector as necessary.
